Chandrabadni Temple is a revered Shakti Peeth located in the Tehri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand, perched at an elevation of about 2,277 meters above sea level. This ancient temple is dedicated to Goddess Sati, and it holds immense religious significance among devotees of the Hindu faith. According to mythology, this is the sacred spot where the torso of Goddess Sati is believed to have fallen when Lord Shiva was carrying her charred body across the sky in grief. Set amidst the panoramic vistas of the Garhwal Himalayas, the temple offers breathtaking views of the snow-capped peaks, dense forests, and surrounding valleys. The journey to Chandrabadni is as spiritual as it is scenic, involving a trek of around 1.5 kilometers from the nearest motorable road, which passes through enchanting pine woods and mist-laden paths. The sanctum sanctorum of the temple houses ancient idols and iron tridents (trishuls) offered by devotees over centuries. Pilgrims from across India visit this divine site, especially during the annual fair held in April, when the temple becomes a hub of spiritual energy, traditional rituals, and cultural celebrations. The peaceful atmosphere, coupled with the temple’s deep-rooted mythological history and stunning natural surroundings, makes Chandrabadni Temple a must-visit for both spiritual seekers and nature lovers alike.
